We love good food and we love movies about it. Not all of them, because there are many mistakes in the history of cinematography - it was supposed to be delicious, but it turned out to be tasteless - but these are our certainties. This will be a highly subjective editorial review.
A still from the movie "Chocolate".
In this case, dizzying sweets are a pretext to tell a captivating story about finding your own place, friendship, love and tolerance. This narrative starring the phenomenal Juliet Binoche and Johnny Depp has been captivating for over 20 years. The film also starred the decadent Alfred Molina as the sinister mayor with a weakness for chocolate. Attention! Some scenes make you immediately want to reach for something sweet. For example, when Binoche spreads shimmering chocolate on a cake, cracks cocoa, or spices coffee in such a way that Judie Dench closes her eyes with delight and says, "This taste reminds me of when I was a little girl." A must-see for those with a sweet tooth.
A still from the movie "The Grand Opening".
This classic should be watched by anyone who considers themselves a foodie. Stanley Tucci's film is a beautiful story about brothers who emigrate from Italy to the USA to open a restaurant. It quickly becomes clear that 1950s America has little understanding of true Italian cuisine, and the need to adapt traditional dishes to American palates is a difficult challenge. “Eating well is being close to God,” says Primo, one of the brothers. With a heart full of love, he rolls out the dough for pizza or pasta, and then throws pots in frustration when customers do not appreciate his refined risotto. Also pay attention to Timpano, an extraordinary dish created by Primo, one of the brothers, a type of pasta cake of impressive size. It is a film about food, but also about family relationships.
A still from the movie "Sideways".
A film for wine lovers. Paul Giamatti plays a writer with a weakness for this noble drink, who tries to deal with writer's block and a life crisis during a trip to the vineyards. On his men's journey along the Merlot trail, he is accompanied by a friend who will soon be getting married. Their brilliant dialogues resound in breathtaking scenery. During the wine tasting, the characters learn to appreciate the bouquet and recognize the wine notes, and the drink in the glasses is filmed in the setting sun. A warm, beautiful, thought-provoking film appreciated by the Academy. Delicious, it makes us want to reach for a glass of wine and feel the magic that radiates from the screen. Just not Merlot, because, as it turns out, our writer doesn't like this variety.
A still from the movie " Ratatouille".
Pixar's rat Remy, looking for his place on the culinary map of Paris, is one of the best on-screen chefs. This charming story has won the hearts of viewers around the world and, although animated, can be watched not only with children. It is also a good opportunity to interest younger family members in vegetable flavors. And although the version of the ratatouille dish presented in the film differs from the French classic, it looks very tasty and is a bit healthier than the original. The recipe was created by the famous American chef Thomas Keller. After watching Ratatouille, even picky eaters will want to try the casserole with eggplant, zucchini, tomatoes and sweet peppers.
This film is a tribute to refined French cuisine. Based on the true stories of culinary guru Julia Child (played by Meryl Streep) and blogger Julie Powell (Amy Adams), who describes her struggles with the legendary Child's recipes. Great acting and beautifully filmed food are a recipe for a hit, and the intertwined stories of two strong women make up its strong, pro-women message. It is also a film about marital relationships, full of mutual support and respect. After watching it, you want to hug someone tightly and go to a good French restaurant together.
