In an interview with nikalab, Aleksandra Chrzanowska talks about what her youngest son has changed in her perception of the world, whether she wants to return to the corporation and why she no longer considers holidays in super hotels a luxury.
How are you feeling today? Running your own business is a constant pursuit and a lot of responsibilities, but I feel very good. I definitely prefer this lifestyle to doing nothing.
For me, work life balance is... a balance between work and rest - but I don't know if this concept works in my life. I also understand it as a moment when I can devote myself to pleasures, not just duties.
My most important daily health habits are…
The sport I practice regularly is... horse riding, which is currently on hold. Due to the need for a high commitment to this activity, I currently lack time for it. However, I am well on my way to getting back to it. I spend about 10 hours a week on physical activity , including walks with my son. My motivation for sports is... my children and the desire and need to clear my head, which helps me organize my thoughts. Someone once said that in order to have time to think, you need to organize your head and generate this time. The mess in our heads makes us lack creative thinking, so I close the drawers, make a draft and start thinking.
I don't meditate because... I don't have the space for it right now, but I want to try it in the future.
My diet is based on... groats, fish, seafood and vegetables. I believe that you should eat very diversely and regularly.
I end the day at... work. Running my own business and being a mother at the same time allows me to set flexible working hours. When my youngest son Hugo goes to bed, usually around 7 p.m., I open my laptop and work until about 11 p.m. Then I try to read a book for another 30 minutes to calm my eyes and thoughts.
I spend… 8-9 hours sleeping.
The thing I do only for myself is... the moment when I can go to the garden, sit and do nothing, looking at the greenery. I worked in a corporation for 21 years and had no time for myself. When I gave birth to my youngest son, I consciously decided to give up work for 2 years and to be honest, I don't know if I will come back. During this time, I opened my own company, I do something completely different and I feel good about it. I believe that life is about taking short breaths and taking care of your health, both physical and mental, to have the strength and energy to act.
My little sins are... chocolate, which I love and can eat the whole bar at once. Sometimes I drink wine, I even have my favorites, which are very difficult to find, and when I have them, I enjoy them for a long time.
Happiness for me is... the moment when I wake up with a smile and feel that everything is in its place - without rushing and without stress. It is very nice that I have more and more such moments in my life and it makes me very happy.
For me, luxury is... being at a given moment where our body and soul wants to be. Just a few years ago, I would have said that luxury means material things, e.g. holidays in great hotels that I used to go to. Now, after a mental break from corporations, I want to go on a trip around Europe with my family and sleep in a tent on a camping site.
My small, everyday steps in taking care of the planet are…
The advice I would give myself if I was 20 again is... stop proving yourself, act slower and don't regret anything. I have a philosophy that everything happens for a reason - certain events and coincidences teach us, and drawing conclusions from them develops us a lot.
The book I recently read and recommend is... "Medycyna Urody" by Elżbieta Plichta-Osuch.
