Anna Streżyńska, CEO MC2 Innovations opowiada, jaką radę dałaby sobie, gdyby znowu miała 20 lat.

In an interview with nikalab, Anna Streżyńska talks about why she doesn't know the concept of "work life balance", how a walk can be a meditation and explains why money is important to her.

Work life balance for me is... a concept I don't know. I have never had such balance in my life because I like my work too much, it permeates my whole life and drives it.

My 3 most important daily health habits are…

  • Long walks. My office is 2.5 miles from my house, so if I can walk there and back, I'm very happy. It is an exercise that helps me maintain physical and mental health. Such a morning walk prepares me for the challenges of the whole day, and when I return, I summarize and clear my mind of unnecessary impressions.
  • Healthy diet. I have been a vegetarian for years and I feel very good about it. Thanks to this, my body is free, free and clean. I know that it requires a lot of attention when it comes to providing all the necessary minerals, because a vegetarian diet requires supplementation to maintain the balance.
  • Being with my animals. Creatures that need our care and at the same time return it in the form of unconditional love is something amazing for the soul.

The sport I practice regularly is... walking.

I spend about 7 hours a week walking .

My motivation for walking is... good mood. It's an activity I've enjoyed since I was a child, when I went on long hikes with my dad and grandparents. These used to be regular forms of organized activity, because there were various clubs, such as the Polish Tourist and Sightseeing Society, of which I was a member. We regularly went on long trips with various attractions. Holidays were a time of unrestrained physical activity in various versions, and such habits from childhood remain with us for a long time.

I meditate because... I like this state in which I allow myself to let various sensations flow through my body, but I don't know if it's meditation. I think that each of us meditates in some way, even if it does not follow the general rules. I believe that every moment of reflection, complete letting go and allowing yourself to be here and now is a form of meditation. Often, when I walk, I fall into a "meditative state" and I enjoy various things, even the smallest ones, that I see along the way. This is a moment of open mind that is not subject to the compulsion of any task processing.

My diet is based on... plants, legumes, groats and unprocessed food. I'm a vegetarian, so I eat dairy products all the time, which I love. I am an absolute cheese maniac and I eat huge amounts of it.

I end the day by... walking around the entire apartment and checking the condition of the flowers, because I am a collector and an avid gardener of pots. The "Flower Society" is very diverse - starting from flowers blooming in the season, through the fascination with cacti, to 19 pots with flowers called Hoja. In Poland, we probably only know one species, but there are thousands of them. This flower is difficult to grow and is the reason why I check their condition every day. Activities related to plants are complete relaxation because I am focused only on them.

My fascination with houseplants… began when the war began. With death and destruction so close, my mind needed to do something for life and the future. I usually start with a small seedling so I can watch it grow. This makes me feel relieved and confident that something more awaits us in the future. A long time ago I read a poem in which a 19th-century poet wrote “Let's plant roses, my friend! For a long, long time, snow storms will roar throughout the world: Let's plant them next summer! Regardless of what is happening around us, it is worth doing something for our future, for our children and for a better world.

I spend… about 4 hours sleeping .

The things I do only for myself are... reading, listening to music and meeting people. I read a lot and everything I can get my hands on. My library has over 5,000 volumes and is constantly growing, because next to my work I have a cheap bookstore that often has big promotions. Professionally, I also read a lot of materials that relate to my work, but I try to stay very close to literature and music. I don't have sublime taste or great musical ambitions, but I like listening to songs with good lyrics, bordering on original music and poetry. To feel better, I meet people, meet new people and maintain old acquaintances and friendships.

My little sins are... mostly related to sweets. Discipline sometimes lets me down and I can eat a whole halva or chocolate.

Happiness for me is... people. I derive the most satisfaction from social gatherings, but that's not because I have to have them all the time. I am fascinated by man as such, his many faces, his many realities, his fears, courage, great decisions and pettiness. Discovering such interesting properties, interests and views of people, as well as ways to engage in them, determines my well-being.

Luxury for me is… no financial worries. I am a Taurus for whom money is important. Taurus like luxury, but for me it's good food, good wine, or the opportunity to talk to friends.

My small daily steps in taking care of the planet are... limiting purchases, sorting waste and repairing things, not replacing them. I believe that if everyone does the minimum, change will progress, but the most important thing is to put pressure on large organizations and companies to do their part, because the scale of their damage is greater.

The advice I would give myself if I were 20 years old again is... engage more intensively in self-development. I believe this would make my life much more colorful and active today. Poland was then in a period of breakthrough and it was a good moment to take care of your own life, not only public affairs. At that time, most people in my environment were socially and politically involved, which meant that we cared little about our business and financial future. My peers, who invested heavily in themselves back then, learned several languages, completed several faculties and are financially secure, make me think that it is not egoism and cold calculation, but responsibility for themselves and their professionalism. I accuse myself of looking at things then, and unfortunately for a long time afterwards, in terms of the current moment, very immaturely.

The book I recently read and recommend is... a great novel about the enormous social changes in the United States in the first and second half of the 20th century. It is a book about overcoming racism and women gaining a voice. In this specific world full of changes, a group of young friends grow up and have to somehow cope with it. The book is called "South of Broad" and it was written by Pat Conroy. It is fascinating and relatable because we are all subject to similar doubts, problems and pressures as we enter adulthood. A thick and fun read for all the evenings to come. I highly recommend.
The publisher does not conduct medical activities.
