In an interview with nikalab, Marta van der Toolen talks about why she doesn't meditate, what she drinks instead of coffee and how she feels when she can't do sports for some reason.

How do you feel? Quite well, thank you.

For me, work life balance means... no rigid definition in my everyday life. It all depends on the day and what I feel, and most importantly - how I feel. For me, an indicator of the harmony between private and professional life is whether I feel that work excessively encroaches on my private life, but every day it can be something completely different. One day I have a lot of work, I rush back home to spend a moment with my children and I still think that this balance is maintained. However, the next day I may believe that this situation affects me negatively. I try to maintain balance, because if I don't do it, I feel very bad about it and it negatively affects my private life.

My most important health-care habit is... a lot of sport. It has always been like this and it has a very positive impact on my well-being and health.

The sports I practice regularly are... swimming, gym training and golf. Seasonally, I dive, ski and windsurf.

I spend 5 hours a week on physical activity , in a classic week. Much more on holiday.

My motivation for sports is... first of all, feeling good and looking good. When for some reason I cannot do sports, I feel bad and my spine hurts, which I have to take care of regularly and activate due to the curvature.

I don't meditate because... I've never had the need and I think it's not the type of activity for me. If I had the opportunity to meditate while moving, I would try it, but I know that it would be difficult for me to find space for it in my calendar regularly.

My diet is based on... eating whatever I want. I love all carbohydrate dishes, such as pizza, pasta and bread, but recently I have been paying attention to eliminating their amount. I don't drink coffee, but I drink yerba, which works very well for me.

I end the day by... talking to the children. It just so happens that they open up more in the evening. Then I get up and go to sleep myself. I never sit on my phone and avoid screens before bed, because I know that then I simply sleep worse.

I spend… about 7-8 hours sleeping and I feel very good about it.

The thing I do only for myself is... all the activities that allow me to take care of my beauty.

My little sins are… socializing. I am very sociable and such meetings give me energy. I don't really know if it's really a sin.

Happiness for me is... my health, that of my family and friends, and love. When we have people we love and feel loved, love combined with health is my definition of happiness.

Luxury for me is... finding time to rest, because I usually don't have it. But it is also an opportunity to travel to cool and developing places. Every year, my family and I try to break away from civilization by traveling to the wild and unknown.

My small daily steps in taking care of the planet are... giving up plastic bags and using reusable ones and saving water.

The advice I would give myself if I were 20 again is... I'm still 20. Sometimes I jump to 25, but then I quickly go back to 20.

The book I recently read and recommend is… Damian Hadaś “Alaska. A stop at the end of the world. I chose this reportage because our whole family is going to Alaska in August. I like reading non-fiction and travel books. When I go to an unknown place, I like to read something that will familiarize me with the culture and history of a given place.
