Monika Morali-Majkut w rozmowie z nikalab opowiada, czym jest dla niej luksus

In an interview with nikalab, Monika Morali-Majkut talks about how she arranges her diet, how she imagines harmony and why she belongs to the women's reading club.

For me, work life balance is... the feeling that I do not have to give up anything that is important to me, and there is time in my life for everything that I value.

My most important daily health habits are... good sleep , proper hydration and a balanced diet. I also care about good and close contact with my loved ones - by talking and hugging I recharge my batteries and regenerate mentally.

The sport I practice regularly is... boxing - I box with a trainer regularly twice a week. I also play squash, row, or find time to run around Skaryszewski Park.

I devote myself to physical activity every week... at least 2 hours a week for regular training, but in fact I move much more.

My motivation for sport is... I have been training basketball for many years, so sport is a faithful companion in my everyday life. I see how it positively affects many aspects of my life: my health and fitness, my physical and mental well-being, my figure, it gives me a chance for positive contact with people and emotional cleansing. As I got older, I gained another additional motivation: it activates my metabolism and helps me maintain an appropriate weight.

Meditation... I'm curious about it and I appreciate it, like any form of self-discovery, but also calmness and maintaining balance in this increasingly galloping world. But I rarely allow myself to do it.

My diet is based on... the Mediterranean diet of the Greek islands. There are a lot of vegetables, good fats, some fish, less meat, very little gluten. I try to limit sugar and simple carbohydrates. I make sure the glycemic index of my meals is low, I like vegetable juices, especially those made from green vegetables, and I also add yogurts or pickles. My goal is for it to be a health-promoting diet, and it so happens that a diet with lots of vegetables has good effects on everything: it is anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer and prevents diabetes.

I end the day with… I don't have one ritual. Usually, the evening is a mixture of conversations with loved ones - there is never enough time for this, cuddling the children before bed, walking the dog, a cup of herbal tea on the terrace and reading. I usually fall asleep in a split second.

I spend… about 7 hours sleeping .

The thing I do only for myself is… I treat myself to a massage regularly. I love traveling and books.

My little sins are... I'm late sometimes.

Happiness for me is... a feeling of complete harmony. The ideal of happiness is to feel peace, be close to those I love, look at their happiness, have a view of the mountains outside the window, and have a cup of steaming tea and a good book next to them.

Luxury for me is... having time and a sense of freedom.

My small daily steps in taking care of the planet are... privately - I limit my meat consumption. Professionally - part of my activity is supporting the development of new technologies, including green technologies.

The advice I would give myself if I were 20 again is…  trust yourself. We carry so much wisdom and answers to the most important questions within us, and sometimes we have to go such a long way to see it.

The book I recently read and recommend is... I read a lot, usually several books at a time, often in the form of an audiobook. I am also a member of a small women's reading club - we meet once a month to discuss a good book among women. Of the ones I've recently read, I highly recommend Timothy Snyder's "The Road to Unfreedom ," but it's only one of the things that got me hooked because I read and listen to a lot. I also recommend fantastic reports in the monthly "PISMO".
