Olga Sobieraj opowiada nikalab, dlaczego nie wierzy w work life balance

In an interview with nikalab, Olga Sobieraj talks about why she wastes her time sitting at a desk, what type of meditation she prefers, and explains how to make SobieRaj.

For me, work life balance is... a concept I don't believe in. I believe in work life balancing. Combining private and professional life nowadays is a bit like walking. You can't walk on one leg and then the other. We have to move smoothly from one to the other. It's not easy at the beginning, but the further you go, the easier it gets - just like learning to walk.

My three most important daily health habits are… sleep, sport and self-reflection. This last habit is especially important to me - I like to stop, slow down and see a new perspective. I also try to encourage my clients, business owners and managers to do this.

I practice sports... practically every day. In the morning I exercise for 30-45 minutes, and during the day I find time for cycling, running or walking.

I spend about 2 hours a day on physical activity a week . I often combine business with pleasure - I take clients to meetings during walks, or I go for walks during teleconferences. It's a waste of time sitting on the couch or at the desk.

My motivation for sports is… well-being. Without sport, both my body and my head function poorly. I love the moment when I feel that my body is functioning actively.

I meditate when... I have the greatest rush of projects and thoughts. Sometimes it's classic motivation, but running is also a form of meditation for me. When I feel overstimulated, tired and overworked, running puts me in a state of flow.

My diet is based on... trying to have as long breaks between meals as possible. I try not to snack or overload my body. I mainly eat vegetables, proteins, healthy fats, but I also have a huge weakness for gluten.

I end the day with... stretching and reflection. I have three constant questions at the end of the day: What am I grateful for? Who did I help today? What did I learn today?

I spend… 7 to 9 hours sleeping . I do a lot of sports, so my body also needs a lot of time to regenerate.

The thing I do only for myself is... the so-called “me time”, i.e. time spent in each other's company. Every now and then I go alone to a spa or somewhere where I can relax and not have to do anything. Then I calm down and recharge my energy.

My little sins are... gluten and a good hamburger ☺

Happiness and luxury for me are... moments spent with my loved ones, with a glass of red wine, with good pizza and long conversations. No pressure.

My small daily steps in taking care of the planet are... doing many small things. I believe that everyone should start with themselves, because small things become big things. I give things a second life, I unplug them, I don't turn on many lights in the house, I rely on individual points and I watch my water consumption.

The advice I would give myself if I were 20 again is... keep moving, never give up.

The book and podcast I recommend is… I'm a heavy user when it comes to podcasts. I probably listen to about 50 podcasts regularly - in the areas of business, marketing, retail, mentoring, coaching, new technologies, entrepreneurship, team management, longevity and healthy eating. E.g. Pivot, Think Fast, talk Smart, Work life, etc. There are quite a lot of them. When it comes to books, I also read a lot - currently "The Age of Surveillance Capitalism " by Shoshana Zuboff , plus three others in the area of marketing, team management and new methods of gaining the customer's attention and heart.

#dotakeit... my hashtag on Social Media - after all, the name obliges ☺ - I deeply believe that in order for something to change in life, we have to start with ourselves. First we have to make Paradise for ourselves so that we can make it for everyone else. It's like with a mask on an airplane - we put it on ourselves first, and then our child. This principle helps you take care of your own energy, your own thoughts and actions, so that you can later positively influence other people, business and challenges.
