In an interview with nikalab, Piotr Lewandowski talks about why he doesn't meditate and what has changed in his life dance, and explains who should try this form of art and sport.

For me, work life balance is... the ability to find a moment of freedom, cut yourself off from professional matters and devote yourself to yourself or your loved ones. However, a moment ago I didn't know what work life balance was, but recently I found such a space within myself and I appreciate it very much.

My 3 most important daily health habits are…

  • A solid breakfast that fuels me for the rest of the day. I really like to celebrate this moment because it fills me with positive energy for the whole day.
  • Dance. This is a special element of everyday life for me. It has a positive effect on the body, head and soul. I can't live without it.
  • Positive energy for life. I try to smile and draw energy from the world and my immediate environment.
  • Contact with people I love working with. They always make me very curious.

These 4 elements help me stay healthy, because for me it is a very broad concept. I consider them in both physical and mental dimensions.

The sport I practice regularly is... dancing. I don't have much space for additional activities. I also try to take care of my health preventively, so I avoid sports that may be injury-prone. My body is my work tool, so I have to take proper care of it.

I spend about 25-30 hours a week dancing .

My motivation for dancing is... pleasure and love for this form of art and sport. Dance combines the perfection of physical performance, but also has great artistic and spiritual depth.

I don't meditate, but... I try to relax using breathing and music, which helps me focus on what my body and soul internally need at a given moment.

My diet is based on... a variety of meals, without excluding individual products. I love good and quality food.

I end the day by... winding down after a whole day of intense work. Often with a glass of good red wine, which I bring back from my trips abroad.

I spend… about 7-8 hours sleeping .

The thing I do just for myself is… I'm still learning about it. I am constantly doing something for others: I help with dance careers, I develop my clients' dance skills in the dance studio. Recently, I have been allowing myself to go on completely private trips and this is something I do only for myself.

I don't have any small sins because... I don't regret anything in my life.

Happiness for me is... love that I recently found. I learned the true meaning of this word, both happiness and love. This is something amazing and important to me.

Luxury for me is... time that I can devote to myself and my loved ones.

My small, everyday steps in taking care of the planet are... limiting the use of the car when it is not necessary. I walk to my dance studio.

The advice I would give my 20-year-old self again is… listen to your heart and intuition. At the end of the day, the most important thing is to live and act in accordance with your heart.

A book I recently read and recommend is… “Start with Why” by Simon Sinek. I agree with his approach to focus not on what and how we do it, but why we do it.

Dancing changed… everything in my life. It affects every area of my life and it is an incredibly beautiful experience. There is not a moment when I am not connected to him. Everyone should try dancing, because it doesn't matter your condition, predispositions or how you hear music. The most important thing is to want it.
