In an interview with nikalab, Roksana Ciurysek-Gedir talks about why she runs a "portfolio life", what she cannot sleep without and how she cares for the good of the planet in the projects she implements.

Life balance for me is... a sense of inner peace and that I am close to balance. Life is not a straight line, so complete balance is not entirely possible. For over 20 years of my adventure in the corporate world, this balance was partly defined by the structure of the company - long hours at the desk and it was much more difficult to find the balance, but I always tried anyway.

Currently, I run a "portfolio life", as I call it - my life consists of many projects - that are important to me - carried out with people who share similar values and goals. It is crucial for me that each project has a positive impact on the world in some way.

My most important daily health habits are…

  • First of all, meditation - even if I don't have much time, there is no day without meditation for me. I usually do it in the morning and it is my ritual that sets me up well for the rest of the day.
  • The second thing I introduced a few years ago, after visiting a clinic in Austria based on FX Mayr, was dry body brushing. I do it before brushing my teeth so I don't forget. Even a minute is enough and I immediately feel a surge of energy.
  • The third element is movement - I choose activities that are gentle and stretch the whole body.
  • The fourth element is proper nutrition. Food is medicine.

The sports I practice regularly are... walking (yes, walking is also a sport for me), yoga, pilates and weight training.

I spend… an hour a day on physical activity .

My motivation for sports is... feeling good after training.

I meditate every day because... it makes me more effective in everything I do. My fascination with meditation did not happen overnight - I understood it only after some time. It started with yoga, which I have been practicing for as long as I can remember - for over 25 years. I discovered it in London and then it was dynamic yoga, and later I learned about slower yoga and I really liked it. For me, creating art or taking a quiet walk is also a kind of meditation.

My diet is based on... a variety of ingredients and eliminating what does not serve me. I don't eat meat and it is my conscious choice. I gave up when I realized that it would be a good decision for the good of the climate and my health. My diet includes a lot of soups, hot meals, avocado and sushi. Tea with fresh turmeric and ginger is my daily ritual.

The quality of the product is very important to me - I try not to eat processed things because I know that they contain a lot of unnecessary additives.

I end the day with... chamomile tea. I also always have water by my bed - I won't go to sleep without it. I try not to fall asleep later than 11:15 p.m., otherwise the quality of my sleep drops dramatically. I also recently bought an Oura Ring, which accurately shows important vital signs. I learned a lot about myself and my sleep thanks to him.

I spend… about 6-7 hours sleeping, although I feel best if it is at least 7 hours.

The thing I do only for myself is… a weekly massage. It's an important part of my balance and well-being.

My little sins are... dark chocolate and a glass of champagne. For me, this champagne is a moment of celebration and reflection on what I am grateful for that day.

Happiness for me is... inner peace and the feeling that I live in harmony. Also being surrounded by family, but also having space for yourself.

Luxury for me is... time for myself.

My small daily steps in taking care of the planet are... I grew up in a family that has always cared very much about the planet. Even as children, we saved water, always turned off the lights, took care of order and did not produce too much waste. It was a natural part of my philosophy that my parents instilled in me.

Also in all my current projects, caring for the planet is at the center. As an artist, I create sculptures related to climate change - building awareness and mobilizing capital for solutions - mainly planting trees.

As a film producer, I am the Executive Producer of the latest documentary with Oliver Stone about nuclear energy, "Nuclear - Now!", which demystifies nuclear energy and shows that it is one of the most important solutions in the fight against climate change.

As a financier – I am Chairwoman of Impact One . And an initiative with Impact Investing, which focuses on projects in innovation, infrastructure and culture towards achieving a Net Zero economy. Additionally, I am the Chair of the ESG Fund for White Oak Global Advisors in the USA, where we organize loans for small and medium-sized companies in the health care and innovation sectors. I believe that all investments should take into account one of our biggest problems - climate change.

The advice I would give my 20-year-old self again is... don't worry too much about what other people think. Follow your inner voice.

The books I recommend are... Alejandro Junger "Clean" and Dr. Joe Dispensa "How to break the addiction to being yourself" , which I am reading for the second time.
The publisher does not conduct medical activities.
